Summer 2011 - This is a brand new blog for anyone interested in gardening in Uinta County, Wyoming. The Master Gardeners are the blog authors, but everyone in the community is invited to participate by following the blog, subscribing to posts by e-mail and making comments on the posts. Who Are the Blog Authors?
If you are a Master Gardener in Uinta County, Wyoming, then you are eligible to be a blog author.  By accepting this responsibility, you are not committing to any schedule for posting.  You will not have any due dates or pressure to fill a quota of posts.  You choose how often you want to post, and you can write about whatever you want to, as long as it relates somehow to gardening in Uinta County.

What Do We Write About?
A sampling of topics:
  • starting seeds
  • current pest problems in your yard
  • houseplant successes or failures
  • vegetable gardening successes or failures
  • saving seeds
  • techniques for extending the growing season
  • unique things you're growing in your yard
  • waterwise gardening techniques 
The sky is the limit for topics.  Just remember that the purpose of the blog is to educate each other and the community very specifically about gardening in Uinta County, Wyoming.  Many people will read the blog, including beginning gardeners who have been told nothing grows here.  We want to show them that is a myth.  Experienced gardeners will also read our blog, so we can include detailed information on advanced topics.

Guidelines for Posting
  • You may include pictures or videos, but they have to have been taken in Uinta County. (reduce the photo size please)
  • Every post should be educational in some way (even if it is subtle)
  • Feel free to link to articles and information from university extension sites.
  • Feel free to link to other posts on the blog.
  • Sometimes it will be important to mention which town or part of town you garden in.  But keep it general to maintain your privacy.
  • Remember not to advertise for or against businesses or products.
  • Manually sign your name on each post (automatic "posted by" info does not show up in the e-mailed versions)
  • For privacy it is recommended to just sign your first name.  
  • Include labels.  First click on "Show All" to see what is available.  Feel free to add new labels.
  • Use your best writing and grammar.  Proofread your post before you publish it!
  • Everyone will have their own style.  Don't feel like you have to have formal, encyclopedic entries.  Those are fine.  But you can also take an informal approach.  Be creative and enjoy what you do.
  • Blog administrators reserve the right to revise posts by adding links to outside articles and other related posts on this blog.
  • Blog administrators reserve the right to revise labels on posts in order to keep the label list tidy.
How to Become a Blog Author
    There are several ways to post to the blog. 
    • Direct Posting - You are required to have a Google Account.  They are free and easy to set up.  You do have to have an e-mail address, but it doesn't have to be Gmail.  First you need to be invited by the blog administrator through e-mail to be an author.  Then you just follow the directions in the e-mail to complete the process.
    • E-mail Posting - You may send your post and any attachments and instructions to the Master Gardener e-mail address.  A blog administrator will post it for you.
    • Hard Copy Posting - You are also welcome to bring a hard copy of your post with accompanying photos and instructions to the Extension Office.  A blog administrator will post it for you.
